Legal Cost Consultants

Cost consulting is in our name, literally.

Wiese & Wiese are attorneys and cost consultants, and we take the second half of that name as seriously as the first. We draw bills of cost, prepare estimations, attend taxations, negotiate settlements and advise firms on saving costs, at reasonable rates and with quick turnaround times that do not compromise quality.

How our fees work

Our cost-consulting fees follow the applicable High Court and Magistrate's Court tariffs, so they track the work and the value of the bill rather than a flat rate. Drawing a bill, attending taxation, settling and opposing each carry their own tariff basis, and settling early keeps costs down. Because every instruction is different, we confirm the fees with you before we start rather than quoting set rates here. Send us the file or get in touch and we will set out exactly what your matter involves.

Invoices are payable within 30 days of receipt. Collection and delivery is free within Pretoria, and arrangements can be made further afield.

Cost consulting is in our name, and we take it as seriously as the first half. Every recoverable rand matters, so we draw your bill with the same care we would want on our own.

Common questions

  • A cost consultant drafts and checks bills of cost, prepares fee estimations, attends taxations, negotiates settlements on legal fees and advises attorneys on keeping costs recoverable.

  • Nothing to do with SARS. Taxation is the formal process where the court’s taxing master goes through a bill of cost item by item and decides what may be recovered. The certified result is called the allocatur.

  • Our fees follow the applicable High Court and Magistrate's Court tariffs, so the amount depends on the bill and the work involved. Every instruction is different, so we confirm the fee with you before we start rather than quoting a set rate here.
